Lorna Watkins was born in Straffan, Kildare in 1974. She studied in Grennan Mill, Thomastown; Edinburgh College of Art and graduated from NCAD, Dublin in 1997 with BDes in Printed Textiles. She was awarded the Thomas Damann Travel Bursary in 1996 for research in 19th century textiles in Sweden. Lorna worked in fashion before setting up a business making handmade soaps selling in Ireland and the US for 5 years.

Returning to Fine Art in 2014, Watkins participated in group shows at Leitrim Sculpture Centre, Riverbank Arts Centre, Studio@Room The Model and The Dock. In 2015 she had had solo shows at Signal Art Centre, Bray; Solas, Ballinamore and Leixlip Library, Kildare.

Her work is expressionistic and colourful using mixed media working with the body, still life, landscape and memory.  Her studio is located in Sligo and is open to visitors.

Lorna is represented by The Doorway Gallery in Dublin and The Lavelle Gallery in Clifden.
